The Rosary is a meditation on the life of Jesus and his grace at work within his mother, Mary, the saints and offered to all.
It can be prayed alone or with others; while sitting still or while out walking. It is a rich and versatile way to pray which incoporates meditative reflection and a rhythm of recitation.
The recitation of traditional Christian prayers such as the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be forms the backdrop to the meditation upon events in Jesus’ life.
Traditionally, a set of rosary beads is used to help keep count of the prayers but the Rosary can be prayed without these easily enough: your fingers and thumbs can be your rosary beads!
The Rosary
A small group gathers near Our Lady’s altar in St Edmund’s Church each Saturday morning after Mass (usually about 10.30) to pray the rosary together. Anyone is welcome to join them.
There is also a group which meets at a parishioner’s home on Monday evenings at 18.30. Please phone 07534 188767 for more details.
