Encounter Jesus
The great gift that Jesus left to his Church is the gift of his own divine presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
Catholics believe, as do many Christians, that Jesus is truly present in the form of bread and wine once it is consecrated during the Mass, and that this real and substantial presence is also an abiding one. We call this the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus remains in our midst even once the Mass has ended.
This means that when we pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament we encounter Jesus himself in his body, blood, soul and divinity, masked by the external form of bread and/or wine.
‘Encounter Jesus’ is an opportunity to spend some time in adoration and praise of the Lord in the relaxed and intimate space of our Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
There is space for communal worship, quiet adoration, and personal prayer during this time.
Encounter Jesus prayer group gathers on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Blessed Sacrament chapel
Adoration runs from 19.45-21.00 beginning with 45 minutes of sung praise and worship, followed by half an hour of silent prayer.
People are welcome to come and go as they need. If you can only be there for a few minutes you are still most welcome.
There are other opportunities to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. We have an hour of Adoration ending with Benediction each Wednesday from 10.30 - 11.30 in the main church.
The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the tabernacle in the Blessed Sacrament chapel during weekdays and in the tabernacle in the main church at weekends.
