Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.
This style of contemplative prayer has ancient roots but in more recent times has been propounded by the Trappist monk, Fr Thomas Keating, who spent much of his ministry reinvigorating it and teaching others of its value.
Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other ways of praying but can add to them by casting a new light and depth of meaning on them.
Centering Prayer
The prayer group meets on the last Monday of each month between 19.00 and 20.00 in the church crypt.
